Transition From Traditional to Organic Farming Practices
Jubilee Orchards is committed to transitioning our entire 50-acre orchard to organic. By the Spring of next season, we will be certified organic with 25,000 berry bushes. Over the next 3 years we will be transitioning the remaining 75,000 bushes to organic. This is a major undertaking, but one that will have a positive impact on our fruit and the environment. No chemicals, no pesticides, no water pollution and healthier fruit - all these things we are committed to.
Because of our commitment to the environment, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the environmental arm of the USDA, has just awarded us three grants. First, they are helping us draft and implement a plan to reduce water runoff and conserve water we use to protect our fruit from freezes. Second, they have awarded us a grant to build high tunnels that greatly conserve water and reduce the need for chemical applications. And third, they have hired an expert to help us plan and implement our organic orchard transition.
We are proud of our environmental stewardship program and our hard work and continued push to grow and provide the very best and safest berries, without sacrificing the environment, is our top priority!
