Jubilee Orchard’s debut dash in the 48th Annual Springtime Tallahassee Grand Parade was a shimmering success! We decorated the picking wagon in flashy, homegrown float fashion, and held our own among the professional processional with krewes from as far away as Tampa.
Though misty in the morning as the floats filled Monroe Street, the skies parted and the sun showed up for the parade. With music blaring from the big guys’ speakers, we danced down the street and tossed necklaces to the tens of thousands of blueberry lovers lining the parade route. The necklaces held medallions offering $1 off per pound of u-pick berries, and the beautiful fruit will be ready soon.
Our fellow floaters came to get the coupons too, with young and old excited about the u-pick season opening mid-April. It’s a good thing we’re expecting a huge crop of several delicious artisan berry varieties, because Tallahassee can’t wait to get their hands on Jubilee Blues!
It was touching to ride past the historic Capitol, as we represented to a new generation the beautiful homestead that meant so much to Governor Lawton Chiles. We’re proud to continue the legacy of good health and strong families with our sustainable farming methods and superb, nutrient-dense product. Jubilee Orchards is growing a bright future for Tallahassee, one tasty mouthful at a time.
